This Play Is For Hot Girls
This review was composed by the person who does the play. It is completely biased. If you want to buy tickets to Murder, Oops! at the Hollywood Fringe Festival this June, just click here! Use code BLOGREADER for $3 off any regular performance (not previews) or come to a preview for $5 tickets.
When I was hot off the heels of a long term relationship back in 2015, I found myself writing a lot of music. Like, a LOT. And I wrote this one song all about falling in love with your boyfriend’s murderer. (you can read into that as much as you like). Then forgot about it completely. But nearly ten years later, when I was fresh out of yet another longie and going nuts with dating (I moved fast), I found myself on the brink of heartbreak — and revisiting the concept. But what if I didn’t just fall in love with my boyfriend’s murderer, but, in fact, everybody? I was feeling a little slutty, after all.
So I wrote this one woman play called Murder, Oops! that is all about falling in love with your boyfriend’s murderer. I gotta say, I think it’s good. I’ll give you some more info below, but I won’t spoil anything important, because you’re going to come watch it, right? Tickets for June performances at the Hollywood Fringe are only $10, grab one! I Should be sponsored by domino’s
There’s a few things in the play that I feel like I can tell you about without giving too much away.
There’s pizza (always Domino’s — not a plot point, just a preference)
There’s a bat
There IS a murder!
I can also tell you that I play something around…seven different characters. It is a solo show after all! This isn’t me bragging that I can do like, incredible character work or something like that. Because I can’t really. But I do it anyway. I try.
One more point I will hit — is that I do have a song for every character. People really seem to like them. To be honest with you, the main reason the songs are in there is because I was trying to make it longer from the original 20 minute version and adding songs seemed like the easiest way to tack on time. That’s how I ended up with the dance sequence, too.
It kinda sounds entertaining, huh? See for yourself at the Hollywood Fringe this June.
why should i watch this play?
That’s a good question.
It’s funny and very feminine. Some people find it to be sexy which I think is weird, but it might just be because I don’t wear a bra.
It is also extremely high octane. I am really just running around the whole time.
I also have some pretty good reviews.
“So much work for the dumbest thing you’ve ever seen.”
“Unhinged and heartfelt.”
“You can tell she’s a trained professional but I’m not sure what she’s doing.”
“This is how I want to feel after leaving a show.”
